Brant Daugherty: Noel Kahn a Misunderstood Villain

Actor Brant Daugherty, who plays Noel Kahn on PLL, had some interesting thoughts on his character. He thinks of Noel as a misunderstood villain. If he looked at the situation from Noel’s perspective, then he could see how Noel felt like the Liars were the ones who antagonized him. He brings up some good points about how the Liars kept accusing him of things he didn’t do. He also describes how they filmed the scene where his decapitated head rolled down the stairs. (In another interview, Brant Daugherty hints at what Noel's been through during the five year time jump and talked about Noel's ties with Charlotte.)

Brant Daugherty explained that they used his actual head for the decapitated head scene. It wasn’t a prosthetic head. “We wanted it to bounce down the steps, so they CGI-ed my body out but they had to have my head on a step and I had to bounce. It was very, very technically tricky and we had to do it about a hundred billion times to get it right. So I had to bounce my own head off the step, and then land, and then settle into its final resting position. It was one of the more bizarre days of my life” Brant said. It was so weird that the cast couldn’t stop laughing while filming. “We were all laughing between takes. We were like, what are we even doing right now?” Brant told Vulture.

PLL Actor Brant Daugherty Talks Noel’s Backstory & Ties with Charlotte

Noel Kahn’s death was possibly the most gruesome death in the history of Pretty Little Liars. After the PLL season 7 summer finale, actor Brant Daugherty talked about his character’s backstory. He also hinted at a deep connection Noel has with Charlotte and suggested that PLL fans re-watch the season 5 premiere “EscApe from New York” for clues.

Noel Kahn was gruesomely decapitated by falling on his own axe in “The DArkest Knight”. It was a bloody death, but actor Brant Daugherty was happy to find out his character would die after being brought back for a short arc. “I was overjoyed, which I don’t think is the normal reaction? But I had grown up with Noel, played this character for seven years, and to see him get a conclusion I think suits him very well was a good moment for me,” Brant told Zap2it.

Burning Questions About Season Five of PLL

With the premiere of Pretty Little Liars season five fast approaching, here’s a look back at the burning questions brought up in the finale of season four.

• Who shot Ezra?  Ezra told the masked person who shot him that he knew who it was.  He got shot before he could say anything else.  So who shot him?  Assuming he survives this, will he remember who he thought it was?  And will Aria forgive him for his lies?

• What happened to Ali’s mom?  In the final scene of “A is for Answers”, we saw someone dragging Ms. DiLaurentis into a grave and burying her.  Assuming she was murdered, who could have killed her and for what reasons?  To keep her quiet about something?  Or did she confront Ali’s attacker and get killed by the same person?  We know that Ms. DiLaurentis witnessed the attack on Ali and may have been protecting whoever killed her.  Or maybe she was blackmailed or felt threatened?

• Will CeCe be back?  At the police station, Ms. DiLaurentis and CeCe exchanged a cryptic look before Ms. DiLaurentis ended up dead.  And it looked like CeCe was wearing the clothes that Ms. DiLaurentis had bought (the clothes Hanna found in Ali's room).  Also, Ms. DiLaurentis paid Cece to keep quiet about the fight Spencer had with Ali. Why?  CeCe knows a lot more than she’s letting on.  Hopefully we’ll get some answers from her now that Ali’s back.

• What is the extent of Noel’s involvement?  Noel is one of the few people who knew Ali was alive and he was helping her out.  Ali said Noel has his own secrets.  What secrets has he been hiding?  And what is his connection to Ali?

Brant Daugherty Discusses his PLL Character Noel

Brant Daugherty, who plays Noel on Pretty Little Liars, gave an interview about his character and answered some burning questions.

What’s Noel’s involvement in Alison’s disappearance?  Brant thinks that Noel knows everything that’s happening in Rosewood.  He doesn’t know for sure if he can say if Noel had anything to do with Ali’s disappearance, but Noel knows what’s going on.

Who does Noel have the most unresolved issues with?  Brant points out that Ezra and Noel have had a rivalry since season one of Pretty Little Liars.  When Noel and Aria were dating and Noel found out that Aria was with her teacher, Noel went after Ezra rather than Aria.

Brant would love more Noel and Aria interaction.  He mentions that there was a deleted scene in season two where Noel called Aria out for everything that happened.  He says we saw a little bit in “The Kahn Game” when Noel asks Aria “Ever had sex with your teacher?”

Remember that scene?  Spencer and Aria had a lot of unanswered questions, so Noel and Aria played a truth game.  They had to answer each other’s questions truthfully for a certain amount of time.  You can watch it below:

 

What can Brant tease about Noel and Mona’s relationship?  Brant thinks that Noel would have had to know something about Mona being “A”, since they were going out for a while.
 

Seems like so long ago that Noel and Aria dated.  Can’t wait to see Noel back in action for season five of Pretty Little Liars!
