PLL Stars Reacts to A.D. Identity Reveal

The Pretty Little Liars cast shared their initial reactions to the A.D. reveal.

Janel Parrish, Mona on PLL, was shocked and then immediately so impressed with PLL showrunner Marlene King. Janel thought the writing in this finale was brilliant.

Sasha Pieterse, Alison on PLL, reenacted her facial expressions when she found out who A.D. was.

Ashley Benson, Hanna on PLL, shared that her initial reaction was “no way”. She was shocked. She didn’t even know it was possible.

Shay Mitchell, Emily on PLL, had a similar reaction to her BFF Ashley Benson.

Tyler Blackburn, Caleb on PLL, was really stoked.

Marlene King promises that A.D. is someone we have seen before.

Can’t wait to find out who A.D. really is!

Vanessa Ray Thinks Aria is Uber "A"

Vanessa Ray’s Pretty Little Liars character, Charlotte (aka Cece), was revealed as “A” in the season 5 finale of PLL. Who is the Uber A that will be revealed at the end of season 7, though? Vanessa Ray thinks Uber A is Aria, which has always been a popular fan theory.

Vanessa Ray on 'A': CeCe’s a Broken Doll

Vanessa Ray, who plays CeCe Drake on PLL, talked about her complicated character and CeCe’s obsession with dolls.

"She's a broken doll herself, and so she plays with the dolls. Being 'A,' it's cool. I kinda feel like I get to be a little bit bitchy and have a reason for it now!" Vanessa said.

Vanessa was excited about “A”’s nomination at the Teen Choice Awards 2015.  "I can't believe that I got nominated for it! It's cool because it's actually like, the show really is 'A' and I'm lucky enough to get to embody that,” she said.

PLL Showrunner Marlene King Defends CeCe as “A” Reveal

A lot of PLL fans were angry and disappointed when they found out CeCe Drake was “A” and took to social media to point out plot holes and express frustration at inconsistencies.

However, PLL showrunner Marlene King is standing by her decision to make CeCe Drake “A”.  Marlene doesn’t think most PLL fans are upset at the reveal.  “I think the majority of fans really were happy about it. I think no matter who you pick as A there are always going to be the people who want it to be someone else. We had a similar reaction when we revealed Mona was “A” and then as we got to know her character more and got further down the road, I think people couldn’t imagine anybody else being original “A.” We’ll find that the same thing happens with Charlotte,” Marlene told Zap2it.

When asked if fans will find inconsistencies with the CeCe reveal, Marlene said no.  “No, it makes a lot of sense. We knew three and a half years ago that this was going to be who “A” was. I don’t re-watch episodes very often, but when I was getting ready to write this, I went back and watched every Cece scene, every Cece episode and we tell you she’s “A” several times. You will see the clues. I was like, “I can’t believe we did that, I can’t believe we were so bold!”

Marlene also said that she decided Sara Harvey was Red Coat and the Black Widow early on.  “We’ve been looking for a way to play it out for a couple seasons, it really clicked. It was a good time to bring back Sara Harvey.”

Were you happy or disappointed with the reveal that CeCe was “A”?

Vanessa Ray's Reaction to Being ‘A’ on PLL

Vanessa Ray, CeCe Drake on PLL, talks about her initial reaction to finding out that she is “A”.  She was really excited at the reveal.  She always joked with friends that she might be “A”, but she never actually thought it was true.

Vanessa felt pressure to give the fans a performance that would help them identify with her character.

Being “A” was top secret, so she couldn’t even tell her fiancé any details from the PLL script.

Sympathy for CeCe Drake in PLL 6x10 “Game Over, Charles”?

In the build up to “Game Over, Charles” the cast and crew of PLL seemed to imply that we would feel sorry for Charles after learning the reasons why he was “A” and that he has a soul.  Sasha Pieterse (Alison on PLL)  thought the “A” reveal was disheartening and sad.  PLL showrunner Marlene King told BuzzFeed “It’s the second-to-last scene in the season finale and the tears started pouring down.”  And when MTV asked if we will empathize with “A”, Marlene answered “All of my favorite villains are not just villains for no reason. There’s always something. And it’s always more interesting to have a reason. For example, when we found out Mona was original A, we understood why. Mona was a villain, but she became a very likable character — before her demise. And we redeemed Paige. We were introduced to Paige in a villainous way. She certainly wasn’t good to Emily. And then she became such a beloved character on our show. So it’s really important for us to show that you’re never really defined by one action, or one motivation. We’re not all a sum of one mistake.”

After watching the PLL summer finale “Game Over, Charles”, did you feel for CeCe or empathize with her?  The DiLaurentis’s family secrets had nothing to do with the Liars.  And CeCe didn’t have much of a personal connection to the Liars or any reason to hate them.  The only reason CeCe gave for hating the Liars is that they were glad Alison was gone.  The Liars had admitted to having mixed feelings towards Alison, since Alison bullied and manipulated them before she disappeared.  However, they all devoted years to finding out what happened to Alison.  They tried to rescue Alison when they found out she was alive.  Even though CeCe knew about that, she still kidnapped the Liars and tortured them.

It’s hard to shed any tears for CeCe after what she put the Liars through, especially when her reason for continuing the “A” game after New York was that it was addictive and she was good at it.  There wasn’t any justifiable reason for what she did to the Liars ever since she took the “A” game over from Mona.  Driving a car through Emily’s house, locking Aria and Spencer in the freezer and all the other times she almost killed the Liars and tried to ruin their lives.  Plus, she blew up Toby's house and went after Aria's brother Mike.

http://whoisontheateam.tumblr.com/post/126482919142

CeCe claimed to love her family, but she almost killed Jason in the elevator in “What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted” episode 3x19, even though Jason hadn’t done anything to deserve her wrath.  She also tried to strangle Alison with a scarf in “Run, Ali, Run” episode 5x06.

Side note:  Does anyone think this timeline makes sense?  In “’A’ is for A-l-i-v-e” episode 4x01 we saw Toby’s mom in a flashback.  In the flashback, we saw Alison and Toby as teenagers in Toby’s room.  They are about to kiss when Toby’s mom comes in.  If Bethany Young really killed Toby’s mom when she and Charles were still young kids, then Toby’s mom wouldn’t have been alive when Toby and Alison were teens.  Charles is a few years older than Alison.

Did you feel bad for “A” after hearing CeCe’s backstory?  What did you think of CeCe being revealed as “A”?  Did you think Mona being “A” was a better reveal back in the season two finale?  Were you happy with “Game Over, Charles” or were you disappointed?

PLL Season 5 Deleted Scenes: Charles DiLaurentis is Alison’s Brother?

There is a PLL season 5 deleted scene that seems to point to Charles DiLaurentis being Alison’s brother.  The deleted scene is a dream sequence though, so we can’t completely rely on the information.

In jail, Alison has a dream about her dead mother that hints Charles in Alison’s brother.  Alison and her mom look through a family photo album.  Alison’s mom made the mistake of letting her brother stay up and watch an old movie in Niagara Falls.  He became obsessed with it.  After that, everything had to be vintage.  This is strange, since Alison doesn’t remember Jason being into old stuff.

Alison’s mother clearly states that Alison’s brother was into vintage, but that doesn’t match Alison’s memories of Jason.  That points towards Alison having another brother.  And as we saw in Charles’s soul room, he seems to have a love for all things vintage.

Alison’s mom says Jason was on the family trip, too.  They all were.  Alison tells her mom that Jason thinks there are no family photos of him because no one cared about him.  Alison’s mom claims that Jason was camera-shy and threw out his own photos.

Was Charles in those missing photos?  Is that why photos of Jason are mysteriously missing?  If that’s the case, wouldn’t Jason know that his parents threw away the photos to hide evidence of Charles even existing?

There are also some season 5 deleted scenes related to Mona’s Army.  In one scene, Paige tries to convince Lucas to stop Mona’s Army because Lucas loves Hanna and Paige loves Emily.  Lucas thinks that Alison being back in Rosewood is putting Hanna and Emily in danger.  Even if he wanted to, he couldn’t stop Mona’s Army.  It’s too late.

There is another scene of Mona meeting up with her army after Alison slapped her.  Lucas and Jenna ask if Mona did her part.

A Caleb and Toby bromance scene was deleted.  Caleb is having trouble dealing after his ordeal in Ravenswood, so Toby lets him stay in his cabin for as long as he wants.

Alison had a scene where she calls Noel Kahn and asks him for his help.

Do you think this PLL season 5 deleted scene of Alison and her mom Jessica DiLaurentis confirms that Charles DiLaurentis is Alison’s brother?  Or do you think it is possible that Charles is a more distant relative of the DiLaurentis family?

Sasha Pieterse Fav PLL Theory: Charles and Maya on the ‘A’ Team

Sasha Pieterse (Alison on PLL) has heard a lot of fan theories, but her favorite theory involves Emily’s presumed dead ex-girlfriend Maya.

Credit: Norman Buckley's Instagram

"My favorite theory is that Charles and Maya are working together.  After Maya died, I've constantly heard theories that she faked her death and she's part of The A Team. I think it's pretty brilliant actually.  You never saw her dead body, you only saw her body bag. You never know!" Sasha Pieterse told Us Weekly.

Although Sasha likes that theory, she does think that Charles is the only “A”. "I honestly think Charles is the A, but knowing [series creator] Marlene [King], I might be wrong", Sasha said.

Interesting theory, since "A" may have had a run-in with Maya at some point.  PLL executive producer Oliver Goldstick has said that "A" may have tried to kill Maya.  Do you think Maya is alive and working with Charles?

PLL Spoilers: Alison Has No Idea Who Charles Is

Charles may be a DiLaurentis, but that doesn’t mean Alison DiLaurentis knows who he is.

"I can tell you that Charles is somehow related to the DiLaurentis family,"  Sasha Pieterse told buddyTV.  So Charles is part of the family, but that doesn’t mean Alison knows who is tormenting them.  "She has no idea who this person is.  It's completely a shock to her."

So how come Alison has no information about this mysterious relative?  Alison will realizes that she can’t even trust her own family.  "It just goes so much deeper and so much darker and it's really hard for her to trust anyone.  She can't even trust her own family completely".  Sasha describes the DiLaurentis family as "so twisted."

We will probably see a lot more of the DiLaurentis family in season 6 of PLL.  Sasha has posted behind-the-scenes photos of the whole DiLaurentis clan at a table read.  Jessica DiLaurentis will be returning to the show.  We will also see more of Alison’s older brother Jason.  And of course, Alison’s dad will also be there.

Sasha promises that we will learn "how Charles works and how this has all come about and the history of Charles and the reason he is so obsessed."  Of course, his obsession is not going to stop until he adds Alison to his doll collection.  “His ultimate dollhouse does include Alison," Sasha said.

“A” Plans to Complete Doll Collection with Alison

Marlene King, PLL showrunner, has given us this teaser for season 6.  “A”/Charles has a mission to complete his doll collection with the real Alison DiLaurentis.

Guess Mona in a blonde wig wasn’t close enough to the real Alison.  Alison better watch her back!

Lucy Hale Still Only Liar Who Doesn’t Know Who “A” Is

Lucy Hale
Credit: Disney/ABC Television Group, Creative Commons

Looks like Lucy Hale, Aria on PLL, is still the only Liar who doesn’t know who “A” is.  Keegan Allen, Toby on PLL, doubted that Lucy was still in the dark, but PLL showrunner Marlene King has said that Lucy really doesn’t know who “A” is.

Marlene told MTV that most of the main cast know who “A” is because they strong-armed her into telling them.  Since Lucy still didn’t know who “A” was, Marlene offered to tell her.  “She was in my office the other day, and I was like, ‘Lucy, I will tell you.’ But she was like, ‘No! Don’t tell me. It’s too much pressure’”, Marlene said.

How did the rest of the cast find out about “A”?  Troian Bellisario, Spencer on PLL, asked Marlene while they were on set.  Keegan Allen, Toby on PLL, came up to them while they were discussing “A”, so Marlene told him the whole story too.  And Ashley Benson (Hanna on PLL) and Shay Mitchell (Emily on PLL) found out who “A” is when they went over to Marlene’s house.

“A”’s background story and motivations are complicated.  “Telling the story takes about an hour, to really tell it from start to finish. That’s how complex and well thought-out this reveal and this character and this character’s motivation is”.

Who do you think “A” is?

PLL Spoilers Season 6: Charles Will Punish Liars

http://whoisontheateam.tumblr.com/post/114568893662

The Liars will suffer the consequences of trying to escape the dollhouse when Pretty Little Liars returns for season 6.

Janel Parrish, Mona on PLL, told The Hollywood Reporter what to expect for PLL season 6A.  “Basically, the girls will be trying to escape. They will be punished for trying to get away from Charles, and it won't be pretty. I know eventually that they will get out [of the dollhouse] but with some serious emotional scars. The season will be pretty dark. Throughout the season, we'll be finding out more about what happened to these girls while they were in the dollhouse and who exactly is Charles and why is he doing this”.

Mona’s punishment may be different from what Charles does to the Liars, since Charles favors Alison.  Janel told Entertainment Weekly that Mona “will be treated differently because she is [Charles’] favorite,” but “[Mona] will ultimately still be punished”.

In “Welcome to the Dollhouse”, Mona described the punishment she already suffered in the dollhouse.  (No food and water, blasting the siren and playing a recording of Mona’s mom crying at her funeral).  What do you think Charles is going to do to the girls this time?

Mona Didn’t Leave the Charles Anagram for the Liars?

Did someone else leave the Charles anagram for the Liars in Mona’s bedroom?  When Spencer told the girls that she figured out the alphabet blocks spelled Charles, Mona didn’t mention leaving them a clue about his name.  It seemed like she was hearing the name Charles for the first time.

People asked Marlene King about the anagram found in Mona’s mirror.  “Well, we're going to get into that next season because last night, as you watched, it seemed like that was new information to Mona. So she might not have been aware of those anagrams left at her house” Marlene said.

Did “A” leave the anagram for the girls to find?  Or did Andrew leave it as a clue for the Liars?  Andrew was watching Mona’s house while the Liars were searching it.

Did “A” Try to Kill Maya?

A video posted by @imarleneking on

Maya’s sudden death back in season 2 of PLL left us with some unanswered questions.  Maya seemed to know what was going on, but we never really found out exactly what she knew.  Did “A” actually try to kill Maya?

TVLine asked PLL executive producer Oliver Goldstick about the significance of Spencer mentioning Maya on the Pretty Little Liars season 5 finale “Welcome to the Dollhouse”.  (Spencer called Emily a quitter when they staged their fight to distract “A”.  Spencer said Emily quit the swim team, quit Maya and quit Paige).

Oliver said “I think that’s a word that would make ‘A’ perk up, just as it made you perk up. Given Maya’s history with the series — she was sort of clued in by the end, and possibly had some answers — it was not ‘A’ that killed her, but that doesn’t mean ‘A’ didn’t try.”

Do you think Maya figured out who “A” was before she died?  Or do you think Maya is still alive?

Watch These PLL Episodes to Figure Out Who Charles/“A” Is

Can’t wait until Pretty Little Liars returns in June to find out exactly who Charles is?  Maybe rewatching some PLL episodes might help.

PLL showrunner Marlene King gave E! Online a list of five episodes that she would recommend rewatching.

1. "It Happened 'That Night'" (3x01)

2. "A Dangerous Game" (3x24)

3. "A Is for Answers" (4x24)

4. "Taking This One to the Grave" (5x12)

5. "How the 'A' Stole Christmas" (5x13)

Catch any clues in those episodes?
