Reactions to news of the Pretty Little Liars reboot Original Sin has been mixed. Some are excited to see what the new, darker show will bring while others think it's too soon for a PLL reboot. Here's what Lucy Hale, Janel Parrish and the creators and producers of the original PLL series think about the HBO Max PLL reboot.
Lucy Hale, Aria Montgomery on PLL, reacted positively to the news of the upcoming PLL reboot. “I sincerely wish everyone the best and I hope it’s a huge success. Some people get angry about a reboot, but I think it’s important to be supportive of up-and-coming artists. I’m curious to see what they do with it!” Lucy Hale told US News.
There's also the possibility that Lucy Hale may get involved in the reboot herself. Before the reboot was a reality, Lucy Hale was asked about the possibility of someone creating a PLL reboot.
However, it does seem like Lucy Hale agrees that it’s a bit soon for a reboot. "I don't rule anything out, [but] I feel like we'd need a little more time to pass. I feel like we would get more out of it if we were, like, 10 years down the road," she explained.
"I feel like they're gonna do a spinoff or something before then. I don't know. I'm so protective of this show. So I feel like when the time comes that they want to do it with a whole new cast, I might have to produce it because I'm way too protective of it," Lucy told ET Online.
And that definitely seems like a possibility, since Lucy Hale has a working relationship with Original Sin creator Aguirre-Sacasa. They both worked together on the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene. It would be great if Lucy Hale was involved in some capacity, even just behind the scenes.
However, there has been a significant backlash from fans and the crew of PLL for doing a reboot when the original ended only three years ago.
Clearly the original Pretty Little Liars creator I. Marlene King isn't on board with the reboot idea. When Shay Mitchell's assistant Sammy Rosenman tweeted "The bodies aren’t even cold yet", Marlene replied "Literally. They are somewhere in the WB jungle".
Literally. They are somewhere in the WB jungle. 🤣🤣🤣

Marlene also tweeted "The #OGPLL fans are the most passionate, loving and loyal in the universe. Thank you for all of your support. We are family forever. I love you".
