"Pretty Little Liars" Reboot "Original Sin" to Air on HBO Max

A Pretty Little Liars reboot is coming to the streaming service HBO Max! The reboot will be a departure from the original Pretty Little Liars show. Expect it to be a dark, coming-of-rage, horror-tinged drama. Intrigued? Read on to find out more Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin juicy details!

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin spinoff HBO Max

The Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin reboot is brought to you by Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina writer Lindsay Calhoon Bring.

Don't expect the same cast, since it will feature a new generation of Liars, who will be tormented by an anonymous "A"! It doesn't take place in Rosewood either. It'll take place in the town of Millwood.

"Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls—a brand-new set of Little Liars—find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-RAGE, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe—in a brand new town, with a new generation of Little Liars."

Expect this Pretty Little Liars reboot to be a complete departure from the show and the book series, unlike the spinoffs The Perfectionists and Ravenswood (which both featured cast members from the original Pretty Little Liars cast).

The Ravenswood spinoff, which aired in 2014 starred Tyler Blackburn as Caleb Rivers. It followed his adventures in Ravenswood, a town near Rosewood.

The Perfectionists spinoff followed Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) and Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish) while they tried to unravel mysteries and murders at Beacon Heights University.

Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon have no intentions of creating a carbon copy of Pretty Little Liars. "We’re such huge fans of what I. Marlene King and her iconic cast created, we knew that we had to treat the original series as #CANON and do something different. So we’re leaning into the suspense and horror in this reboot, which hopefully will honor what the fans loved about the hit series, while weaving in new, unexpected elements," they shared.

That's probably for the best, since the original Pretty Little Liars crew doesn't seem excited about the upcoming HBO Max reboot. However, original cast member Lucy Hale (Aria Montgomery) has voiced her support for the Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin reboot.

HBO Max is rebooting other popular shows like Gossip Girl, Sex and the City and True Blood.

So when will Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin air on HBO Max? They haven't set a release date yet. Keep checking back for more updates on the newest Pretty Little Liars reboot!

The Gossip Girl reboot has already started filming, so hopefully the Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin show will start filming soon too!

While you're waiting for the reboot to air on HBO Max, why not binge watch the original Pretty Little Liars series?
