'Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists' Pilot Script Already Written

Looks like Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists will start filming soon! The Pretty Little Liars spinoff, which will star Sasha Pieterse as Alison DiLaurentis and Janel Parrish as Mona Vanderwaal, already has a pilot script. Showrunner Marlene King has already scouted locations to shoot the pilot. Marlene King also dished on why the show made some major changes to the Perfectionists character list.

The Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists team has already finished location scouting in Portland, Oregon. The pilot script is already written, though the writers are still doing some minor rewrites to the script.

"We were scouting for locations to film our pilot in Portland over this last weekend and yes, the script is written and we’re in the process of rewriting it just to fine-tune it perfectly... we’re super excited about it," showrunner Marlene King spilled to ET Online.

Marlene King also explained why the character list for the Freeform spinoff show is different than the character list from the books. The book series center around five girls (Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie, and Parker). The Freeform show will keep Ava and Caitlin, but replace the other girls with three boys (Andrew, Dylan and Jeremy).


"I felt like just as we were getting sort of into season five and six of Pretty Little Liars, our guys became such an important part of the show. I wanted to explore the relationship between guys and girls who can be friends and not necessarily boyfriend-girlfriend," Marlene explained.

Marlene King was asked if Shay Mitchell would make a guest appearance in the Perfectionists spinoff. It would be great if she did, since her character's wife and twin babies will be on the show.
"Well, we’ll just have to wait and see," Marlene said. Shay Mitchell herself has also been hesitant to commit to appearing on the show, since she's busy filming other projects.

Marlene King acknowledged the reality that not all Pretty Little Liars characters can be on the spinoff show. Still, it will be exciting to see fan-favorites Mona and Alison entering this new world of The Perfectionists.

"That’s a part of the story that’s, you know, the fun of a spinoff is getting to take a couple characters from your show and creating this new experience for them, but you can’t take everyone. It’s bittersweet in some ways, but I think also awesome in others and I think our fans will appreciate the journey that these two characters, Mona and Alison from our world, are going into this new world."

The pilot should start filming soon, but no date has been officially set yet. Can't wait to watch the pilot episode of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists!
