PLL Cast on Time Jump & Maturity for Season 6B

The Pretty Little Liars actresses are excited about the five year time jump, which will make the show more mature.  They are happy that they will finally get to play characters closer to their actual ages.  Here’s what PLL stars Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Sasha Pieterse and Shay Mitchell have to say about the show post-time jump.

The PLL actresses are more than happy to leave high school behind and have their characters grow up.

“It's nice to have mature conversations out of a high school setting” Ashley Benson (Hanna) said.  Now that the Liars are of age, they will be doing a lot of drinking on the show.  “It's so funny because the writers have us drinking in almost every scene to show that we're age-appropriate.  But it's been fun.  I think all of us have had a really good time and it's fun to kind of develop a new sense of the character” Ashley added.

Shay Mitchell (Emily) has been having fun acting like they do outside of the set, which is a little more mature, older and wiser.

Sasha Pieterse (Alison) thinks the PLL fans will be happy with how Pretty Little Liars has evolved.  “I think for the viewers it's also awesome because a lot of the viewers started pretty young and they've grown up with the show and now they get to be going through the same things that they are going through.  I think it's really great and relatable for those viewers.”

Although the characters have matured during the five year time jump, the show itself isn’t completely changing.

Lucy Hale (Aria) assures us that the show’s drama and suspense will still be there, despite the new relationships and character changes.  "So we're still going to have that drama and all the cliffhangers and everything, but we’re going to get to see how these girls have grown up and how they’ve evolved and what kind of jobs they have and their relationships. There's new relationships and we're introducing new characters" Lucy explained.  (Lucy’s character Aria will be in a new relationship with Liam, which may result in a love triangle on the show).

And of course, secrets are still a huge part of Pretty Little Liars.

Troian Bellisario (Spencer) spills that the Liars are still keeping secrets from each other.  (We know Emily will come back to Rosewood with the biggest secret).  "We have new secrets from each other.  So the really exciting thing is to get to watch who these people are now and how they interact now that five years have gone by and a lot of stuff has happened in those five years" Troian said.
