Here's what it's about:

YOU is a 21st century love story that asks, “What would you do for love?” When a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle – and person – in his way.

The Lifetime thriller series is based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel YOU.

Synopsis: "When aspiring writer Guinevere Beck strides into the bookstore where Joe works he is instantly smitten.

But there's more to Joe than Beck realizes and much more to Beck than her perfect facade. And the obsessive relationship quickly spirals into a whirlwind of deadly consequences ..."

Penn Badgley will play Joe, a creepy stalker obsessed with a woman (Guinevere Beck) he rescues from the subway tracks. YOU also stars Elizabeth Lail (Once Upon a Time, Dead of Summer), Luca Padovan and Zach Cherry (Crashing). John Stamos (Fuller House, Grandfathered) will also make a guest appearance.

Shay Mitchell will play Peach Salinger, a queen-bee "mean girl" type. Peach and Joe both fight for Guinevere Beck's attention.

Shay Mitchell was also excited to work with Penn Badgley, since she's is a huge Gossip Girl fan.

Shay Mitchell thinks Pretty Little Liars fans will like YOU. " It still has all those elements that PLL had with it being sort of a mystery. There’s a romance part to it and it’s just exciting. It’s definitely going to have those elements. I think it’s a little bit more mature… It deals with a lot of crazy things like PLL did, but it’s a different storyline. If you loved PLL, you’re gonna absolutely love You. And if you never saw PLL, you’re still going to love You," Shay told ET Online.

Lifetime also seems confident that views will tune in to watch YOU. Lifetime already gave YOU an early renewal. The second season of YOU will be based on Caroline Kepnes' sequel Hidden Bodies.

In Hidden Bodies, Joe takes his stalking from New York City to Los Angeles and tries to keep his past a secret.
