According to showrunner Marlene King, fellow Pretty Little Liars alum Lucy Hale (Aria Montgomery) has been very supportive of Troian Bellisario's role as director.
"I’m really blessed that I get to work with these amazing women and I feel like we all do this amazing job of – it is a true sisterhood, we lift each other up, we’re not competitive, we all want each other to succeed, the Pretty Little Liars all want their co-stars to succeed and I was texting with Lucy [Hale] just today about how supportive she’s been of Troian and Famous and the girls are supportive," Marlene King told ET Online.
Marlene King is also happy that she gets to spend more time with Troian Bellisario. They don't get to see each other as much now that Pretty Little Liars is over.
"It’s amazing... just to get to spend time with Troian is a gift because I don’t get to see her every day anymore, but the Famous cast was so excited to have her and welcomed her with open arms and Niki Koss, who actually wants to direct, is shadowing her on this episode as well, so were having a lot fun and growing our female directors," she said.

Troian Bellisario missed out on the Golden Globe Awards 2018 because she was busy prepping to direct Famous in Love. Although Troian Bellisario didn’t hit the red carpet, she made sure to show her support for the women who wore black that night to show their support for the Time’s Up movement.
“I’m nowhere near a red carpet tonight. But I am on a set. On a lot. Prepping to direct. And for that I am so grateful and feel incredibly lucky. As a woman of mixed race who has been given this job opportunity and has worked to make a career in film. I want to see grace in this town. I want to see love and support. I am wearing black because I am grateful to those who have been brave enough to speak out about harassment in this industry (and others) I hope it means change. I hope it means empowerment. I hope it means equal pay and equal opportunity for Women, LGBTQ and minorities who are all are still woefully underrepresented in positions of power, jobs and stories.
