Ashley Benson Put Gum in Keegan Allen’s Hair

Ashley Benson (Hanna on PLL) is definitely the prankster of the cast of Pretty Little Liars.  Keegan Allen (Toby on PLL) told Teen Vogue about the time Ashley put bubble gum in his hair.  He didn’t notice for a while.  He read about years later it in another magazine and immediately checked his hair.  “I take showers and stuff, obviously, but you know, gum …”  (This isn't the only prank played on the PLL set.  Previously, one of the girls told a producer that she was pregnant).

Keegan has a lot of fun hanging out with his co-star Troian Bellisario (Spencer on PLL), too.  She always makes him laugh, especially in the middle of shooting.  Then they get the giggles and can’t stop laughing.

Keegan also discussed how he got the role of Toby on PLL.  He skateboarded to the audition and came in wearing a knit cap.  He immediately made friends with showrunner Marlene King and writers Oliver Goldstick and Joseph Dougherty.  He credits fans for keeping his character on the show, since Toby was supposed to die in the sixth episode of the first season “There’s No Place Like Homecoming”. (Pretty Little Liars book series spoiler alert: Things play out very differently for Toby in the book series. Toby actually dies in Flawless, the second book in the PLL series. Author Sara Shepard has said she regrets killing Toby in the book series, since she likes Toby and he is such a big part of the show).
