PLL Spoilers: Return of Wren Kingston

Wren Kingston, the British hottie doctor who left Rosewood and was living with Melissa in London, is coming back to Rosewood soon.  

PLL showrunner Marlene King recently had dinner with Julian Morris (the actor who plays Wren).  “Got a little zhush for werk and oh yeah dinner w @julianmorris tonight. Thanks @melissa.hurkman for the glam.#MyFaveBrit #WrensReturn #prettylittleliars” Marlene wrote on Instagram.

Julian Morris originally left Pretty Little Liars because he wanted roles that would challenge him as an actor. 

A popular fan theory was that Wren was “A”, so some PLL fans were disappointed when it turned out Charlotte/CeCe was “A”.  Afterwards, Julian expressed an interest in appearing on PLL again.  He also brought up the possibility that Wren could still be Uber “A” in the final season of Pretty Little Liars.

Reason Behind Julian Morris’s (Wren) Break from PLL

Did you ever wonder why Julian Morris, Wren on PLL, suddenly disappeared from PLL?  Turns out Julian was looking for roles that would provide more of a challenge for him as an actor.  He’s willing to make a return to Pretty Little Liars, though.

Dr. Wren Kingston, the sexy British doctor on PLL, hasn’t been in that many PLL episodes lately.  He played a large role in season 1-3 of Pretty Little Liars, where he flirted with Spencer while he was engaged to her older sister Melissa.  He also shared a kiss with Hanna after he helped keep Mona from being transferred from Radley.  The last time we saw Wren he was acting creepy at Radley.  He colored in a red coat on a drawing.  Then he suddenly went back to England and ended up sharing a flat with Melissa, although we never actually saw Wren and Melissa when Spencer went to London.

Julian Morris explained to MTV why he decided to walk away from PLL.  “I had been [on] ’PLL’ and ’Once Upon a Time’ and some other stuff, and I was really enjoying it,” he said. “I was loving everyone that I was working with. But I realized that I was settling into what I knew I could do, and I started to think about why I got into acting in the first place. It was because of the directors, people like Marc Forster [’Monster’s Ball’], and the challenge that it presented. So I made a break with ‘PLL’ and ’Once Upon a Time.’ And I felt like I needed to do that to give myself the opportunity to give myself these other challenges.”

Julian Morris Ready to Return to PLL

Julian Morris (Wren on PLL) has been busy filming Hand of God, but he’s ready to return to PLL anytime. 

Julian tweeted a promise to be back on PLL soon.  “So, I’m not Charles. But I will get up to mischief in #HandofGod. And I promise, Wren will be back before PLL is out,” he tweeted.

Julian’s even willing to be in a PLL movie, if the rumors of a PLL movie ever come true.  “I know there’s been talk of a movie, and I know Wren is very much alive in the PLL universe.  Could he come back? Absolutely. Have I spoken with Marlene about coming back? Yes, absolutely,” Julian told Zap2it.

Some PLL fans were disappointed that Wren wasn’t “A” in the summer finale “Game Over, Charles.”  It’s been a while since we’ve seen his character on the show.  If you need a Julian Morris fix, you may want to watch him in Hand of God.

Julian thinks PLL fans may like his Amazon show Hand of God.  “I’m hoping that the fans that have grown up on [Pretty Little Liars] will come to a show like Hand of God.  What attracted me to the pilot of Pretty Little Liars is similar to what attracted me to Hand of God — it’s this ultimate whodunnit. There’s no ‘A’ in this show, but there’s cliffhangers and all the thrills we experience from watching Pretty Little Liars. So just as I made the transition to Hand of God, I’m hoping the PLL fanbase will as well,” Julian said.
