PLL Season 7B Spoilers: A Musical Number

Get ready for a musical number in Pretty Little Liars season 7B! Before PLL official ends, we’ll get to see the talent cast of PLL showing off their musical skills on an upcoming episode.

PLL executive producer Oliver Goldstick said that there will be a musical number in PLL 7B. He particularly wanted to do a musical number because so many of the PLL cast members can sing. “All of them have incredible hidden talents and singing happens to be one of them. And I thought it was a shame that we didn’t utilize that, and we found a way to platform it in one of the episodes in the last 10,” he told Entertainment Weekly at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

So many of the PLL actresses are also talented singers. Lucy Hale (Aria) debuted her first country album Road Between, which featured the song “Lie a Little Better” (most likely written about her PLL co-star Drew Van Acker).

Sasha Pieterse (Alison) has also released singles and music videos (check out the music video for Sasha’s song R.P.M.).

Unfortunately, neither Lucy Hale nor Sasha Pieterse will sing in the musical episode. Sasha Pieterse isn’t in the musical sequence. Lucy Hale is in the sequence, but she doesn’t sing. They didn’t reveal who sings in the musical, but they both had fun shooting the episode.

It doesn’t seem like Shay Mitchell (Emily) will be singing in the episode, either. She joked that fans wouldn’t want to see her singing. She might be dancing in the background, though. (And Shay loves dancing! Check out Shay Mitchell’s dance routine to “Party Favors”).

So will Janel Parrish (Mona) sing in the musical episode? Janel Parrish has released multiple singles, including her song “Life is Beautiful”. Janel Parrish also frequently stars in musicals. Janel Parrish starred as Jamie Sullivan in A Walk To Remember: The Unauthorized Musical. She also previously starred as Kathryn in the Cruel Intentions musical. And she recently portrayed Cecil in the Cruel Intentions musical.

Troian Bellisario, Keegan Allen and Ian Harding all play the guitar. Maybe that will also be incorporated into the musical number?

Not sure if Brendan Robinson (Lucas) will be featured in the musical number, but he recently starred as Seth Cohen in The Unauthorized O.C. Musical.

Having a musical number in an episode, rather than having the whole episode be a musical, is probably a safer route. Other shows have done entire musical episodes, but that can be hit-and-miss. Perhaps the most famous example of a successful musical episode is the iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode “Once More, with Feeling”. However, it didn’t seem to work as well for the Grey’s Anatomy musical episode “Song Beneath The Song”.

Given how talented the PLL stars are at singing, I’m sure the Pretty Little Liars musical number will be “A”-mazing! What do you think about a PLL musical number? Are you looking forward to it?
