The second episode of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, titled "Sex, Lies and Alibis" introduces us to some new characters. We meet Nolan's childhood friend Mason. We also learn more about Dana Booker (Klea Scott), the new head of security in charge of the Nolan murder investigation. And we get some juicy Rosewood updates on Spoby.
The Liars are back! At least, some of them are. Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) and Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish) reunite in The Perfectionists, the highly anticipated spinoff of Freeform's hit show Pretty Little Liars. The two liars are joined by a new group of characters who all have their own secrets. Those secrets are used against them and someone ends up dead. Here's a recap/review of all the twists and turns from the series premiere of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.
Pretty Little Liars draws to a close with the series finale episode 7x20 “‘Til Death Do Us Part”. After seven wonderful years watching the Liars, it’s time to say goodbye. We finally find out who A.D. is. After some more torment, the Liars get their happy endings. Ezria get married and Emison get engaged.
The episode kicks off with the Liars drinking coffee and reminiscing about old times. They remember that tingly feeling they got when ‘A’ was watching them. They somehow miss ‘A’ and don’t want to live normal lives. Then Lucas, dressed in a white tux, starts tap dancing near them. And if that wasn’t bizarre enough, Jenna Marshal, dressed as a ringmaster, rides by on a white horse. It starts snowing. The camera pans out and we see Mona staring into a snow globe. So that opening scene was all in Mona’s head.
Mona, who is locked in Welby, drops the snow globe when a hooded figure enters her room. “I never would have guessed it was you. Are you here to kill me?” she asks.
We jump ahead to one year later. Things are going great for Ezria. They are on a studio lot because their book might become a movie. Ezra teases Aria and calls her an ugly crier (referencing when Aria found out Ezra was spying on the Liars in PLL episode 4x20 "Free Fall"). They kiss, happy now that they are ‘A’-free.
We finally find out who killed Charlotte in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x19 “Farewell My Lovely”. The police arrest someone for the murder of Archer Dunhill. And the ‘Liar’s Lament’ board game finally comes to an end.
Lt. Linda Tanner is ready to arrest the Liars. She’s hours away from getting the arrest warrants signed by a judge.
At the end of episode 7x18, Aria was horrified to find Archer Dunhill’s dead body in the trunk of her car. A cop car pulled up as Aria slammed the trunk shut.
Aria tells the cop that she dropped her keys in the trunk, so she called a friend who is bringing a copy of the keys. The police officer insists on helping and he quickly pops the trunk open.
Aria’s friends catch Aria on the A.D. team in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x18 “Choose or Lose”. The Liars, particularly Spencer, are furious. Lt. Tanner builds a strong case against the Liars, so the Liars all spend their last moments of freedom with their loved ones. Some highlights: a Haleb wedding, Ezria makeout, Emison revisit the kissing rock and Spoby reunite.
Alison is back from visiting her older brother Jason in New York. Emily and Alison are about to have a romantic morning, but the mood is ruined when they find the Liar’s Lament board game (with Aria’s puzzle piece) in the bedroom.
Another Liar gets engaged in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x17 “Driving Miss Crazy”, which also had a short dream sequence musical number. Aria continues to do A.D.’s bidding, desperate to keep Ezra out of jail. Mona helps the Liars as the police close in. Hanna and Caleb get engaged in the sweetest way ever.
Ezra has thrown himself into wedding planning. He and Aria take dance classes. He’s also got some wedding drama to deal with. His brother and best man, Wes, keeps bothering Ezra with texts. Their mom doesn’t approve of Wes’s girlfriend and doesn’t want her in the wedding photos.
Aria, wearing a black hoodie, goes further down a dark path in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x16 “The Glove That Rocks the Cradle”. Also, the police suspect Spencer killed Archer Dunhill. The Liars, again, fail to catch A.D. in the act. Alison tells Emily that she loves her. And the Liars confront Lucas about the comic book he wrote with Charles.
The episode starts off with a Rosewood police officer interrogating Spencer. (Last episode, we found out Spencer accidentally used Archer Duhill’s credit card to pay for drinks at the Radley on the night the Liars accidentally ran him over). He asks about the joke Spencer made that night about burying a body. Once the police officer starts asking questions about the credit card used that night to pay for drinks, Spencer just keeps repeating “I don’t recall”.
Aria goes down a dark path in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x15 “In the Eye Abides the Heart”. Uber ‘A’ blackmails Aria into betraying her friends. Unless she does exactly as she’s told, Ezra will spend time behind bars. Hanna turns to Mona for help winning the game. Detective Marco Furey grows suspicious of Spencer. And Alison and Emily decide what to do about their baby. (“In the Eye Abides the Heart” was actually directed by PLL actress Troian Bellisario!)
Aria, hiding behind a dumpster, gets another video call from Uber ‘A’. This time, though, it isn’t one of A.D.’s messengers. A.D. uses a digitized version of Aria’s face and a disguised voice to communicate with Aria. So Aria is talking to a creepy Avataria-style version of herself.
Things get a lot more twisted in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x14 “Power Play”. Alison is stunned when A.D. reveals Emily as the egg donor. Some mysteries are solved when we find out who Charlotte’s father is and who killed Jessica DiLaurentis. And Aria gets an offer from A.D. that might lead her down a dark path.
Aria waits in Ezra’s apartment for him to return. When he finally does, Aria tells him Nicole is sleeping upstairs. Ezra says that Nicole just took off. He had no idea she was at the apartment. He’s going to take her back to the clinic in the morning.
Ezra tells Aria that she doesn’t have to go, but Aria doesn’t want to stay while Nicole is sleeping in the bedroom. Clearly Ezra still hasn’t told Nicole about Aria, but he has to do it soon. Aria’s clothes are in the bedroom closet and there are pictures of Aria all over Ezra’s place. Nicole will have a lot of questions in the morning.
Aria crashes at Alison's house for the night. (Alison was wearing this ‘You're The Avocado To My Toast Boyfriend Tee’ by Emi-Jay in heather grey). The girls are shocked when they see the ‘Liar’s Lament’ board game in Alison’s living room. The game turns on and the Aria and Alison pieces start moving. The game is deciding who plays next.
The next morning, Spencer wakes up in bed with Detective Marco Furey. He gets a call and has to rush to the Rosewood police station early.
The ‘Liar’s Lament’ game gets more dangerous in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x13 “Hold Your Piece”. It’s Hanna’s turn to play the game and A.D. is a lot more ruthless to Hanna than he/she was to Spencer. Aria is a complete badass and suddenly an expert hacker. Caleb tries to help the Liars and ends up in the hospital. And someone is left heartbroken after a sudden death.
Spencer is woken up in the middle of the night with the nonstop sounds of a crying baby. It is coming from the 'Liar's Lament' game phone. Stuffing the phone in a pillow and trying to sleep with pillows over her ears doesn’t help, so she calls her friends over to ask one of them to take the phone.
The episode starts with the Liars huddled around the ‘Liar’s Lament’ game. Aria defends Spencer, but Hanna is still pissed at Spencer for taking A.D.’s bait and playing the game when they all agreed not to.
They worry that A.D. will punish them for Hanna trying to attack the game with a steak knife. The Liars argue over who is behind the game. If it was Jenna, who is helping her? Sydney? Jenna is a vindictive blind girl, but she probably couldn’t have built the ‘Liar’s Lament’ game by herself.
Emily isn’t interested in debating who is helping Jenna. She doesn’t care that A.D. is blackmailing them with evidence that they caused Elliot Rollins/Archer Dunhill’s death. She’s willing to tell the police what they did, especially since she doesn’t feel bad about it. Emily thinks he deserved way worse. Emily storms off without listening to her friends.
A.D. raises the stakes by forcing the Liars to play a Jumanji-style game in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x11 “Playtime”. Meanwhile, Nicole’s return causes uncertainty for the Ezria wedding, Hanna tries to restart her fashion business, Emily questions Alison’s motives and Spencer confronts her mom about Mary Drake’s claim to be her biological mother.
Pretty Little Liars season 7A ended with a few cliffhangers. Spencer was shot, Mary Drake revealed that she is Spencer’s birth mother and Toby and Yvonne got in a car accident as they attempted to leave Rosewood.
The season 7B premiere “Playtime” picks up where “The DArkest Knight” left off. Spencer is rushed to the hospital. In the ambulance, Spencer loses consciousness due to blood loss from her gunshot wound.
The season 7 summer finale of Pretty Little Liars (the last PLL summer finale ever), episode 7x10 “The DArkest Knight”, was intense. We got some answers, but we are left with even more questions. Noel Kahn’s death is the most gruesome PLL death to date. And we finally find out who Mary Drake’s second child is. Surprise! It’s Spencer. Hanna’s plan to kidnap Noel goes wrong when he escapes. It’s Noel and Jenna versus the Liars and not everyone is going to make it out alive.
The Liars, minus Hanna and plus Mona and Caleb, are freaking out over Hanna’s disappearing act. They want to call the cops, even though the police might find out Hanna ran Archer/Elliot over and the Liars buried him like a dog.
Mona wants to ping Hanna’s cell phone to find her, but Caleb already gave Hanna a phone that can’t be hacked. Worried that Noel kidnapped Hanna, the Liars decide to call the police. They tell the police everything about Noel, Jenna and Sara. Little do they know that Hanna actually kidnapped Noel.
Hanna goes on the offensive and takes drastic measures to take down Noel Kahn in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x09 “The Wrath of Kahn”. In a shocking reveal, we find a connection between Noel Kahn and the dollhouse. Hanna goes off the deep end in her pursuit for answers, but is she making a huge mistake?
Hanna goes rogue, since she doesn’t want to wait around for proof that Noel is Uber “A”. She texts her friends that she is in New York working on her fashion business with Lucas. In her new lair, Hanna takes out duct tape, a hammer, rope and a video camera. Hanna records a goodbye message in case her plan goes wrong. “If you find this video before I finish what I need to do, something went terribly wrong. Please give this to the police” Hanna says to the camera.
Paige McCullers and the mysterious Mrs. Grunwald return in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x08 “Exes and OMGs”. Paige isn’t the only ex making a sudden reappearance. Ezra’s former girlfriend Nicole, who was thought to be dead, may actually be alive. Meanwhile, Sparia is back in action. Aria and Spencer do some sleuthing to figure out more about Mary Drake’s second child. And Hanna is the only Liar convinced that Noel Kahn is Uber “A”.
Hanna, who seems to have post traumatic stress after A.D.’s torture, is convinced Noel Kahn is Uber “A”. The episode starts the Liars and Caleb walking the streets of Rosewood. Hanna tries to convince the others that Noel Kahn is “A”, but the Liars want proof. Besides, Jenna Marshall and Mary Drake are still suspects.
We finally find out what dirt Alison had on Noel. Back when the Liars were freshman, they all attended a frat party. At the party, Alison saw Noel push a sorority girl down the stairs. They can’t use that information against Noel, though. Noel’s family paid the girl off years ago.
Alison’s big brother Jason is back in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x07 “Original G‘A’ngsters” and it looks like Aria have a fling with him during the five year time jump. Jason enlists Aria’s help to keep Mary Drake away from Alison. Noel Kahn has only been back in Rosewood a short while, but he’s already acting suspicious. And we get another DiLaurentis family secret bombshell. Mary Drake had another kid. So is this second child actually Uber “A” out for revenge?
The Liars meet up for brunch at The Radley. Spencer has presents for all her friends. She passes out personalized necklaces with each Liar’s name. Spencer realized that they are all a crazy, dysfunctional family. She wants to put her friends before anything else. They are the ones who always have her back.
The Liars toast to Aria’s engagement and to friendship. Hanna wants to be a bridesmaid at Aria’s wedding. Aria promises that all the Liars will be standing up there with her on her wedding day.
Their celebration brunch is ruined when they get a note from Uber “A” on the check. It says “Roses are red, violets are blue, you killed Elliot, and I could have killed you. – A.D.”
Get ready for a PLL Ezria wedding! Aria said yes to Ezra’s proposal in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x06 “Wanted: Dead or Alive”. Meanwhile, Hanna’s convinced that Dr. Elliot Rollins is back from the dead. Alison is angry at her friends for telling Uber “A” that she murdered Charlotte. While Alison shuts her friends out, Uber “A” takes the opportunity to attack her. We find out Jenna Marshall was actually friends with Charlotte DiLaurentis. And Sara Harvey meets an unfortunate end in a bathtub.
The Liars meet at The Brew. Aria is keeping the proposal a secret from her friends. We don’t yet know what Aria’s response was, but she’s not wearing a ring on her finger.
Hanna’s worried that Dr. Elliot Rollins is still alive. Ghosts don’t show up in photos and Detective Marco Furey said there is a traffic camera photo of Rollins in Baltimore. Spencer keeps a level head. Photos can be manufactured. And Uber “A” could have arranged for a Rollins look-alike to drive the rental car.
They know Elliot/Archer had a partner in crime. So maybe Mary Drake or Jenna Marshall is helping cover up the death. They know Uber “A” never does anything without getting something in return, though.
Alison, wearing the infamous red jacket, comes into The Brew. The Liars are shocked and Alison’s pissed off. Alison immediately storms off after making it clear that she knows they turned the jacket over to A.D.
Ezra proposes to Aria in Pretty Little Liars episode “Along Comes Mary”, but will she accept his proposal? The Liars continue to dig for more clues about Elliot Rollins and end up at his “burner apartment”. Jenna Marshall, Sara Harvey and Noel Kahn unexpectedly team up. And Alison finally finds out her friends were the ones who accused her of murdering Charlotte.
Aria feels guilty that they all suspected Alison killed Charlotte, so she shows up to welcome her home with a casserole. Aria is shocked to see Alison arrive with Mary Drake. Jason couldn’t make it Rosewood right away, so Mary got Alison released from the hospital.
Unfortunately, Alison is temporarily stuck with Mary. After everything that happened with the imposter Elliot, Welby is afraid that Alison will sue. Welby is doing an internal investigation and Mary has to stay with Alison until a social worker can review her case.
Mary doesn’t seem happy to see Aria. She suggests that Aria leave so Ali can rest. Alison hopes she’ll be able to get some answers from Mary after Aria leaves.
Alison immediately starts questioning her aunt. Mary Drake claims that she’s innocent. She says Elliot contacted her in London and told her Charlotte was alive. It nearly shattered her when she found out Charlotte was murdered.
The Liars race to cover up Elliot’s death in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x04 “Hit and Run, Run, Run”. The weight of what they’ve done, plus her failing relationship with Caleb, makes Spencer fall apart. Mona, an expert at stealth and secrets, knows exactly what the Liars need to do. And Jenna Marshall makes a surprise return to Rosewood. She’s got plenty of secrets. She’s been in contact with Elliot Rollins and even knows his real name.
The Liars panic after accidentally killing Elliot. Spencer, Aria and Emily frantically dig a grave to bury the body. Emily cries, unsure if she can go through with it. Spencer says they don’t have a choice. It was a well-thought-out plan. When it ends like this, it is first-degree murder. Meanwhile, Alison and Hanna are in shock. Hanna hasn’t even moved from the car. She feels especially guilty, since she was the one driving the car.
In a shocking twist, the Liars accidentally kill Elliot Rollins in Pretty Little Liars episode 7x03 “The Talented Dr. Rollins”. The Liars have saved Alison, but now Elliot Rollins death means the Liars may never get the answers they need. Meanwhile, the Liars work through their relationship issues. Spencer realizes that Caleb doesn’t love her. Hanna claims she’s happy with Jordan, despite calling off their engagement last week. Aria admits that she misses Ezra, but he’s out of town this week. And there’s a surprise engagement, but is that a good thing?
The episode starts with Hanna putting on a fake engagement ring. Seems like Hanna isn’t ready to tell her friends and family that the engagement to Jordan is off. Hanna slips the ring on just as Aria walks up to her. Aria isn’t focused on the ring, though. Aria is shocked to see burn marks on Hanna’s back (from when A.D. tortured her with a cattle prod). Aria is concerned, but Hanna doesn’t want to talk about it.
