Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell and her friend hair stylist Chad Wood shared easy tips to decorate your Christmas tree like a pro!

Shay Mitchell is the first one to say it is NOT easy to decorate a Christmas tree. As proof, she shared photos of Christmas trees she's decorated in the past. So this year, she decided to get some decorating help from her friend Chad Wood.

How To Decorate a Christmas Tree:
Step 1: Pick a Theme
Pick a color and stick to that color. Choose 3-4 different items.
They choose berries and red for Shay's Christmas tree theme.
It helps to do ornament by ornament, so organize your ornaments into different boxes first. Every single ornament gets grouped into a category. Put on one category at a time so it's evenly spaced around the tree. Then move on to the next category.

Step 2: Add Your Ornaments
Work from the inside out to give the tree layers and dimension. That's what will make your tree interesting and beautiful. Shay and Chad went with red baubles in various sizes.
Side note: take the gold strings off the ornaments. In the past, Shay kept the strings on and just put it on the tree. However, you should remove the gold string and replace it with a green hook that will blend in with the tree.
Shay wanted to put cute bird ornaments on the tree, but Chad quickly said no to that idea.

Step 3: Add Garland

You want the garland cascading the top of the tree, spiraling around the tree as it goes down.
They used a pretty red berry garland for Shay's tree.

Don't have garland? You can also use ribbon or popcorn.
Step 4: Foliage
Add foliage branches to create texture.
Step 5: Skirting

Get a couple yards of burlap to wrap around the bottom of the tree.

Shay finished off by reminding everyone one that there is no wrong way to decorate a Christmas tree!
