'Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists': 'Gossip Girl' Star Kelly Rutherford Joins Cast

Actress Kelly Rutherford is joining the Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists cast. You may recognize Kelly Rutherford as the Gossip Girl alum who played Serena's mom Lily van der Woodsen. Kelly Rutherford will play Claire Hotchkiss on Pretty Little Liars spinoff.

Claire Hotchkiss is the matriarch of the Hotchkiss family. Claire (along with her husband) is the founder of Hotchkiss Industries and the respected Beacon Heights University. Claire believes perfection is attainable and is the person who pulls the strings behind the scenes to get what she wants.

Kelly Rutherford is best known for her role in Gossip Girl, but she's also been on Dynasty, Jane the Virgin and Quantico.

Kelly Rutherford shared the casting news on Instagram. She posted a photo of the pilot script for The Perfectionists and wrote " Ok let’s do this! So excited to join the cast of @prettylittleliars#ThePerfectionists ⭐️".

Sophia Carson, who was cast as Ava Jalali in the spinoff, was particularly excited to learn that Kelly Rutherford was joining the cast. Sophia tweeted "I AM NOT OKAY. @KellyRutherford @JanelParrish @imarleneking" when she heard the news.

Showrunner Marlene King welcomed Kelly Rutherford to the Pretty Little Liars family. She tweeted " Welcome to Beacon Heights @KellyRutherford. Can’t wait to see you in Portland. #PLLThePerfectionists".

The Freeform spinoff is based on the popular book series The Perfectionists, which is written by Pretty Little Liars author Sara Shepard.  In the town of Beacon Heights everything seems perfect, but nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.
