Stella Abbott (Portrayed by Lucy Hale)
Stella Abbott was diagnosed with cancer eight years ago. She spent the past few years living as if she were going to die. She gets the surprising news that she's completely cured. Stella knew how to die, but know she has to figure out how to live.
Stella is very optimistic. She's the type of person who sees the glass half-full. She's spontaneous, fun and charming.
Wes (Portrayed by Elliot Knight)
Wes is Stella's husband. He's from the UK and he worked in finance. He was good at it, but felt lost. Life was unfulfilling.
Wes took a trip to Paris, ended up running into Stella, who is an amazing girl who just completely flips everything on its head and makes him see life in a whole new way that he's been looking for without even realizing it".
It doesn't take long for him to propose. Stella has limited time, but she's living every moment to the fullest.
"It's almost like even with five minutes you can live a fuller life than with five years if you choose to do it right," Elliot Knight explained.
Wes is initially overwhelmed with joy after finding out Stella is cured. He'll have more time with her.
After the news sinks in deeper, he realizes that it's going to change how they live their lives. They will face so many challenges in their new journey, like if they ever want to have kids. It's almost as if their beginning their relationship again because they are now, in a sense, two completely new people. It's not just about understanding how to work together. They have to rebuild themselves as individuals to know what they want to do in the world.
Aiden Abbott (Portrayed by Jayson Blair)
Aiden Abbott is Stella's brother. Aiden is your typical lovable loser. He's kind of stuck in this place where he's emotionally atrophied ever since eight years ago when Stella got diagnosed with cancer. He kind of just closed himself off to getting close to women. Aiden has encouraged Stella to live every moment like it's her last because it could be.
Actor Jayson Blair explained "I pick her back up, I dust her off, she's ready to go. It's all about getting her out in the world and allowing her to experience everything."
Aiden lives at home and he's not well taken care of financially by the family. They kind of frown upon him for the madness that consumes his life.
"What I like about playing Aiden is the ability to take life as it comes and try not to be beaten up so much by it. It's all about being this lovable guy on the surface that's covering for this immense amount of pain," Jayson Blair said.
Elizabeth (Portrayed by Brooke Lyons)
Elizabeth is Stella's sister. Elizabeth has two kids. She loves them, but resents them a little bit. (She once said she'd trade her kids for a massage chair).
Elizabeth and the rest of the Abbott family put their own pursuits on hold after Stella was diagnosed with cancer. Stella's cancer has defined their lives for eight years. Now they have to confront their own truths.
Elizabeth is married to Diego (portrayed by Carlos PenaVega).
Ida (Portrayed by Gillian Vigman)
Ida Abbott is Stella's mother. On the outside, Ida and her husband Paul are doing great. They are the supportive, loving parents to Stella. Underneath, they haven't communicated in over five years.Ida has found a new outlet for her emotional needs. She's having an affair with her best friend Poppy.
Her marriage to Paul fell apart because of communication issues. Her husband doesn't tell her how he feels. On the other hand, Ida expresses herself openly all the time. She hasn't been getting that same feeling back from husband.
After Stella is cured, Ida comes out as bisexual.
Paul (Portrayed by Dylan Walsh)
Paul Abbott is Stella's father. He is an economics professor.
Stella's cancer has taken a toll on him. He turned off his emotions after Stella got sick. It was a huge relief when Stella was cured, but Paul never gets the full relief.
The cancer care was expensive, so he's broke. He may have to sell house. And his wife leaves him for her best friend Poppy.
Life Sentence airs Wednesday nights at 9PM on The CW.
