Fantasy Island synopsis:
"The enigmatic Mr Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort, but when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island's mystery in order to escape with their lives."
The Blumhouse/Sony Fantasy Island film is based on the Fantasy Island ABC television series from the '70s.
Lucy Hale plays Melanie Cole. Melanie's secret fantasy? To get revenge on a childhood bully.
All is not as it seems, though. Lucy Hale has said her character has a very interesting arc. At first glance, she's a snarky millennial who wants revenge on a bully. However, there is so much more to here than meets the eye. Melanie has a lot going on underneath the surface. She's a damaged character who has been through the wringer. In her heart, she feels like this is what she has to do to move on with her life.
Fantasy Island will also star Michael Pena (Ant-Man, Shooter), who will play Mr. Roarke. Maggie Q (Nikita, Mission Impossible III) and Jimmy O. Yang (Crazy Rich Asians) will also star in the film. The movie is directed by Jeff Wadlow, who also directed Lucy Hale's horror film Truth or Dare.
