Bad News: Lucy Hale's 'Life Sentence' Moves to Fridays on The CW

Lucy Hale's dramedy Life Sentence has struggled to get viewers to watch the new show. The CW has given Life Sentence the kiss of death by moving it from Wednesday nights to Fridays at 9PM. Life Sentence will be on hiatus until it's Friday night debut on April 27.

Life Sentence didn't get off the strong start they wanted. It was the lowest-rated scripted hour to air on a broadcast network this season. And the ratings continue to slip each week. The last Life Sentence episode, 1x04 "How Stella got Her Groove Back", only had 400,000 viewers and a 0.1 rating among adults 18-49.

The Originals, which is entering its fifth and final season, was originally scheduled to air on Friday nights. Now it will take over Life Sentence's Wednesday 9PM slot. The season 5 premiere episode, "Where You Left Your Heart", is set to air on April 20 at 9/8c.

Most television shows don't survive the move to Friday nights. And The CW usually doesn’t take a new show out of the lineup so fast. The CW hasn't made any official renewal announcements for the 2018-19 season yet, but things don't look good. Life Sentence may be facing cancellation.

The CW doesn't cancel low rating shows as fast as other networks, so there's still hope for Lucy Hale's dramedy Life Sentence. And Life Sentence still has a few more season one episodes to air, since they got an order for 13 episodes. So there's time for the ratings to improve.

Last Wednesday's Life Sentence episode, "Wes Side Story", was the last episode to air on Wednesday nights. On "Wes Side Story" episode 1x05 Stella feels like she and Wes need to get back into a romantic rhythm, but things take a turn when Wes gets a surprise visitor.

If you love Lucy Hale's dramedy Life Sentence, make sure you keep watching! And spread the word to your friends and family about the show. Hopefully ratings will improve for the upcoming episodes.
